Tonight, 7 pm: Break the Frame & Burn It Down

Dear Reader,

You might recall that the first time we tried to have an event with Break the Frame author Kevin Smokler and Burn It Down author Maureen Ryan, we had to cancel for a No Kings Rally. Despite another, even bigger one last weekend, fascism keeps doing its thing—we’re hearing goons have been out all over West Ridge and Edgewater this morning—but so does our community. We know many of you are out there patrolling and documenting everything you can, and we love you for it. Please come by the store if you need extra whistles, information sheets, or a rest.

And please do come out tonight at 7 to see Kevin and Mo discuss Kevin’s amazing interviews with women filmmakers and Mo’s brilliant exposé of Hollywood exploitation. You’ll get a fascinating talk about systemic abuses of power and the ways creative people fight back, plus an opportunity to be in community with your neighbors—but [extreme “as seen on TV” voice] that’s not all!
