Dear Reader,

First, a reminder that the store will be closed tomorrow, Friday, July 10. We’ll be back open at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Also, Kate’s dog, Murray (above), turned 15 yesterday, so please wish him a happy birthday if you see him around the neighborhood.

A fewother quick notes:

Our literary fiction book club is meeting to discuss Madeleine Thien’s The Book of Records on Sunday, July 12, at 5:30 p.m. We just sold our last copy, but it’s not too late to get the ebook from Bookshop or audiobook from Libro, if you want to read it before then! (And we do have more paperbacks coming in, should you want to read it after Sunday.) Copies of The Original, our August book, will also be in by the end of the weekend.

Our nonfiction book club’s next read will be Is a River Alive? by Robert Macfarlane, and our next meeting will be Wednesday, September 9. You might already have a copy, as we’ve been selling it since it came out in hardcover, but it was just released in paperback… and those paperbacks will also be here with our next shipment. (Unfortunately, the few we ordered before this announcement have already sold out. We try to anticipate demand, but sometimes, you surprise us!)

Our last Monday-night Writing Workout is July 13, and a new Wednesday-night cycle will run July 20-Sept. 2. You can always sign up for one class at a time on our website’s events page, or prepay for 6 weeks at the standard rate here. We’ve got a great group of regulars and would love to include more of you!

We’re also excited to announce a price drop that we hope will make it easier for some folks to attend Writing Workouts. The standard rate for each class is going down to $20, the reduced rate to $15, and the pay-it-forward, supporting rate is now $25. You choose the price that works best for you.

That’s it for this time. We’d love to see you this weekend, or during our new Monday hours—4 p.m.-8 p.m.—to coincide with the growing Jarvis Square Twilight Market. Or whenever. We’ll be here.
