Book Club Tonight

Plus: an evening with HAMOC and a Hamnet ticket giveaway

Book Club picks through December 2026

Dear Reader,

Just a quick one to point out that our events page is now filled with dates, times, and readings for our LitFic book club through the end of the year! We’ll be at Charmers Cafe tonight at 6:30 to discuss Helen of Nowhere. If you’re thinking of joining us in March, do sit tight (just a couple days) for an announcement. Our first shipment of Code Noir copies came in damaged and had to be returned, so we’ll be voting tonight on whether to try again or move up a different book and wait for Code Noir to come out in paperback.

In other event news, please note that on Friday, February 20, at 6:30 p.m., we’ll be hosting an event at Charmers to celebrate the publication of Haitians in Chicago with folks from the Haitian American Museum of Chicago. Copies of Haitians in Chicago will be available for only $12 (retail $25) that night, so it’s a great opportunity to come out and take home some rarely told local history.

Finally, the US Premiere of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Hamnet, the “elegant & beguiling” adaptation of Maggie O’Farrell’s novel about Agnes and William Shakespeare. begins tonight at Chicago Shakespeare Theater and runs through March 8. Jarvis Square Books customers can save 20% off tickets using code AGNESor you can enter to win two free tickets here.

Hope to see you soon!
